The Trinity CertTESOL (Certificate for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is an internationally recognised, level 5 (Ofqual) qualification for those interested in starting a career in the field. It focuses on developing the teaching skills and language awareness needed to gain career-based employment in ELT- based professions in the UK and abroad.
Teach with an internationally recognised qualification
In order to secure a place in the course you must:

Prior to lockdown, Train-to-TEFL was based in the heart of Manchester’s university district at Manchester Metropolitan University’s innovation centre.
At present, all-important teaching practice sessions are delivered entirely online or a combination of online and face-to-face.
We work in partnership with a local charity, Cornerstone, to deliver free classes to anyone in need of English language tuition in the Manchester area. Beneficiaries of these classes include refugees and asylum seekers and those on low incomes. As well as developing your teacher skills you will be providing valuable educational support and making a positive impact on the lives of people in the local community.
In both our full and part-time courses, you will:
- observe experienced teachers delivering English language sessions using zoom
- complete six hours of assessed teaching practice
- participate in group feedback and preparation workshops
- attend input sessions
You will have access to the train to travel virtual learning environment where you will find all relevant documentation relating to the course.
Course content is delivered through five units:
- teaching skills (unit one)
- language awareness (unit two)
- learner profile (unit three)
- materials assignment (unit four)
- unknown language (unit four)
Unit four is assessed by an external moderator from Trinity College London on the final day of the course. Other units are marked and graded by your tutors as the course progresses.
With the Trinity certTESOL qualification, you will be able to apply for thousands of jobs all over the world, giving you the opportunity to travel and discover other cultures whilst earning a living. We will support you in your search for work by keeping you updated with job alerts, helping you write a TEFL relevant CV and preparing you for TEFL interviews.
